TIERRA DE ATLANTES
The ancient Greeks used the term Tártēssos to refer to what they believed was the oldest civilisation in the West. Soon, Tartessos would become a myth often linked to Atlantis, and this mythologising would lend it epic splendour while obscuring the traces of its historical reality. This documentary directed by José Antonio Hergueta (a two-time Goya Award nominee and Carmen Award winner for Best Adapted Screenplay for Caleta Palace: Revolution and tragedy in the city of Paradise), reveals how recent archaeological discoveries have confirmed the existence of Tartessos – a meeting and fusion point between Phoenicians and indigenous peoples 3,000 years ago. The civilisation, comparable to the great landmarks of the Mediterranean, lasted for centuries, stretching at least from Lisbon to Alicante.
