ATÍN AYA. RETRATO DEL SILENCIO
El Pali raises his right little finger while drinking from a small glass. He’s sat on a bar stool – tapas scrawled with chalk on a Cruzcampo slate – his feet on the terrazzo floor, his left hand rests on his hip and his shirt is open to relieve him from the heat of the city. In this picture, as in all his work, Atín Aya captures a moment, turning it into a timeless, continuous present, witnessing a Seville of yesteryear (of always) and making it eternal. Considered the photographer of silence, he was an important inspiration for the aesthetics of Marshland. Directors Hugo Cabezas and Alejandro Toro draw on esteemed figures in Spanish photography, such as Alberto García-Alix, Jordi Socías and Isabel Muñoz to guide us through the life and work of Atín Aya, showcasing both his most renowned photographs and unpublished images.
