Acacio Mañé was a leader of the National Liberation Crusade of Equatorial Guinea, a political movement advocating for independence in the 1950s. But at that time, Spain’s dictatorial regime was not yet prepared to relinquish its last colonies: on 28 November 1959, Acacio was arrested in the city of Bata and taken to the Marine barracks. He was then put on a ship bound for what is now Malabo, but never reached port. This documentary aims to acknowledge our historical memory by shedding light on the crimes of the Franco dictatorship in the former Spanish Guinea. The team has spent almost eight years researching, seeking out witnesses from that time and uncovering unpublished documents and films of the families of the former colonists.
