This training action is part of the CreANDo programme, a pioneering initiative of the Regional Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Andalusian Government
The Seville Film Festival continues to consolidate itself as a benchmark space for the training, meeting and projection of audiovisual professionals. In its next edition, to be held from 7 to 15 November, the event will host GUASA, a workshop specialized in comedy for Andalusian scriptwriters.
This training activity is part of the CreANDo programme, a pioneering initiative promoted by the Regional Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Andalusian Government, through the Andalusian Agency for Cultural Institutions in collaboration with the Malaga, Huelva, and Seville festivals. The aim is to offer professional support in the early stages of script development and to create an environment for training, creative exchange and access to market spaces.
GUASA is set up as a meeting place for scriptwriters, where leading professionals from the sector will give training sessions with the aim of encouraging the exchange of experiences and creative development. The call for participation in this workshop, through which to discover comedy talent capable of transferring to the world of screenwriting, will be open soon.
Other training actions of the CreANDo programme
In addition to the workshop to be hosted by the Seville Festival, the programme promoted by the AAIICC will develop other training initiatives for Andalusian professionals in collaboration with the region's main festivals.
The Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival will organise the CreANDo residency at the La Rábida headquarters of the International University of Andalusia, aimed at developing the projects of Andalusian screenwriters and positioning them in professional environments. For its part, the Malaga Festival will promote Entre Guiones, an initiative included in Ventana Sur, the largest audiovisual market in Latin America, which is held in December.
With this programme, Andalusian Agency for Cultural Institutions seeks to support audiovisual creation from the initial writing of the projects, offering specialised training, creative accompaniment, professionalisation and negotiation tools for the works. CreANDo joins the different key internationalisation actions in strategic markets for the audiovisual sector that have been carried out within the Andalucía-Cultura programme in fairs and markets of special relevance, such as the Guadalajara Film Market (2024) or the European Film Market Berlinale (2025), among others. In addition, a collaboration agreement has recently been signed with EGEDA for the internationalisation of the Andalusian audiovisual sector in the period 2025-2027, which includes different actions in the United States.
The Seville Festival and its support for screenwriters
The agreement signed by the Seville Festival to promote the creativity of Andalusian professionals is in addition to the agreement signed last year with the Spanish Screenwriters' Union (ALMA), reaffirming the commitment to the visibility of these professionals.
Through this agreement, the Seville Festival guarantees the visibility of the profession and includes the festival's commitment to publish the names of all those accredited as scriptwriters in the films programmed and in all of the festival's promotional materials. The alliance also includes the Festival's invitation to the screenwriters of the Spanish films in the Official Selection, ensures their participation in the photocall and collaborates with ALMA to include screenwriters on juries and other festival initiatives.
