Mariona Borrull is a film critic specializing in auteur cinema, new releases, television series, and international festivals. She holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, with a focus on Film Analysis and Criticism. For over six years, she has written for Fotogramas and regularly contributes to Gara, El Cultural, Kinótico, and SensaCine. Additionally, she is the weekly voice of Tot és Comèdia (SER Catalunya) and Va de Cine (Radio 4). Mariona has covered prestigious festivals such as those in Berlin, Cannes, and Venice, and was awarded the Berlinale Talents distinction in 2022.
She also hosts the videopodcast Replicants (3Cat) and co-hosts the cultural agenda Nervi (3Cat). Her passion for series and anime has led her to collaborate with Serielizados and the podcast Sopa de Miso. She also writes about indie video games for LOOP (GameReport) and contributed a chapter to the book Pier Paolo Pasolini. El grito que no cesa (2022).
Mariona is a member of the programming committee for the Festival l'Alternativa of independent cinema in Barcelona, where she curates the wine-themed film cycle at the Festival Most. In addition to her journalistic work, she teaches Audiovisual Narrative in the Video Game Degree program at the UPC. She is also a member of FIPRESCI and the Feroz Awards committee.
