Set in mid-19th-century Burgundy, two young sisters disguise themselves as men aboard a timber raft bound for Paris. Far from a stylised period drama, this short film offers a raw depiction of the flotteurs' worn and weary bodies as they labour precariously through a long, arduous journey. This tale of emancipation and transformation formed part of the Pardi de Domani at Locarno, a section renowned for works of expressive experimentation.
