TRAS EL VERANO
Paula (Alexandra Jiménez, Las Distancias) is a woman of warmth and strong character. Raúl (Juan Diego Botto, Los Europeos) is an inflexible, defensive separated father who refuses to share the little time he spends with his son Dani with anyone else. This moving film delves deeply and truthfully into the open wounds of the so-called reconstituted family, exploring how to maintain emotional balance in a relationship where offspring always come first. Jerez-born filmmaker Yolanda Centeno makes her feature debut expanding on the theme of a previous short film: the conflict between affection and biological ties, feelings of intrusion and the fear of losing personal bonds over bloodline. The narrative, simple yet far from facile, employs powerful visual techniques that distance it from conventional drama to express the inexpressible.
