NO SEA TU FALTA
In this deeply personal documentary, the director (now in his seventies) explores the contradictions of his home city and his own Jewish identity, using Super-8 footage from his childhood and youth alongside recent videos to juxtapose the past and present of Melilla. This intimate family portrait is a profound reflection on roots, the Sephardic community, unresolved grief, and the transformative power of dialogue and coexistence. It is both a love letter to a unique Spanish city (special territory of the EU), and a memory exercise aimed at understanding and inhabiting the present. The film’s title, a popular expression among North African Jews and often repeated by the director's mother, translates as something along the lines of: “You’re not here, we miss you, but may it not be that you are gone forever”.
