Mare

Calmly and without any fuss, Mare achieves two things any good film should aspire to: building a solid, charismatic and credible character, and accurately portraying a vital state that is difficult to define. The character is Mare ( the one for whom Marija Skaricic won a prize in Sarajevo), a married woman with children who, despite living in Dubrovnik, an airport city, has never flown. Her life's state is a low-profile dissatisfaction paid for by the routine, lack of encouragement and endless obligations of being a mother and wife, which Mare finally notices following a passionate affair with a Polish worker, in a film of outstanding honesty and emotional solvency.
