LETTERS FROM WOLF STREET

Indian filmmaker Arjun Talwar has lived in Warsaw for over a decade but still feels like an outsider. One day, he begins filming his street, observing the eclectic neighbourhood around him: a postman delivering cures for loneliness, a Syrian exile building a miniature replica of his hometown... Premiering in the Berlinale’s prestigious Panorama section, this warm-hearted, ironic and yet profoundly sincere documentary portrays a microcosm of both its creator’s adopted country (real and imagined) and contemporary Europe, where the broader multicultural reality often remains little understood and far from the political agenda. Like a real-life John Wilson, Talwar’s visual diary brims with discovery and moments of unexpected humour in a context of increasingly extreme ideologies, where the notion of "the other" continues to expand, encompassing an ever-larger portion of the population.
