DANDELION'S ODYSSEY

Four dandelion seeds, fighting for survival in the wake of a nuclear disaster, are the stars of this imaginative and hypnotic film. A blend of digital animation and time-lapse photography is used to reveal an invisible natural micro-universe and breathe life into its diminutive characters. Following various award-winning shorts, Japanese filmmaker Momoko Seto makes her feature debut with this spellbinding odyssey in miniature, a tale of exploration, friendship and resilience that has already won the Paul Grimault Award at Annecy and the FIPRESCI at Critics’ Week 2025. A delightful ecological epic without words, in which the usually imperceptible dance of succulents, mosses, ferns and fungi—among a total of 75 living creatures caught on film—is accompanied by no more than Nicolas Becker’s (Oscar for Best Sound, Sound of Metal) evocative soundtrack and an underlying question: how to survive on a mortally wounded planet?
