En medio de un fuerte aguacero, un monje encuentra a un gatito al que bautiza como Anzu y cría con esmero. Sin embargo, treinta años después, el gatito no solo no ha muerto, sino que se ha convertido en un ‘gato fantasma’ que habla y vive como un ser humano. A sus 37 años, viaja en ciclomotor y trabaja a tiempo parcial como masajista. Un día, el anciano monje le pide a Anzu que cuide de Karin, su nieta de once años que ha sido abandonada por su padre, y este acepta a regañadientes. Al principio, sus personalidades enérgicas chocan y saltan chispas, pero poco a poco empiezan a entenderse. Entonces, Karin le pide un favor a Anzu: quiere volver a ver a su madre fallecida. Ese es el punto de partida para un dramático viaje que les llevará hasta el mismísimo Infierno.

In the middle of a heavy downpour, a monk finds a kitten, which he names Anzu and raises with extreme care. However, 30 years later, the kitten is not only still alive, but has become a ‘ghost cat’ that talks and lives like a human being. At 37, he rides a moped and works part-time as a masseur. One day, the old monk asks Anzu to look after Karin, his 11-year-old granddaughter who has been abandoned by her father, and Anzu reluctantly agrees. At first, their strong personalities clash and sparks fly, but gradually they begin to understand each other. Then Karin asks Anzu for a favour: she wants to see her dead mother again. This is the starting point for a dramatic journey that will take them to Hell itself.
