Despite their importance, the work of casting directors often goes unnoticed. Artificial intelligence is beginning to play an important role in the selection of diverse characters, but it is not yet a substitute for human talent. The emergence of the selftape has revolutionised the casting process, allowing casting directors to evaluate actors more efficiently and without the need for face-to-face meetings. However, the choice between face-to-face and selftape casting depends on the project and the director's vision. To achieve a diverse cast, it is essential that production and management work together to make informed decisions. Marichu Sanz (Andalusian film casting specialist), José Luis Sixto (Casting director and APDICE vice-president), Rosa Estévez (Casting director) and Felipe San Juan (AI expert) will talk about these issues together with the moderators Mercedes Hoyos (Actress and dubbing director), Marta Velasco (AcA president and producer).
