Rebellious young Nico and his devout great-aunt Gela are forced to spend the summer together in the antiquated Sicilian house where she grew up. With Wi-Fi a world away but ghosts very much present, their respective worlds collide: speed and slowness, hyperconnectivity and spirituality. In her mature directorial debut, Margherita Spampinato strikes a delicate balance between the carefree and the nostalgic in this summertime fable, exploring the intergenerational gap and what holds the power to traverse this existential chasm: perhaps little more than loneliness and the need to be heard.
