SUEÑOS FLAMENCOS

In 1989, Paris witnessed the debut of the Ballet Cristina Hoyos with the performance of Sueños Flamencos, a show that would open the doors to global success. With this inspiration as its title, the documentary makes its way to Seville, guided by the artist herself, now approaching 80 years of age. Through personal footage and countless unreleased recordings—with images as intimate and vivid as the energy of the legendary dancer and choreographer herself—this captivating film recounts the bailaora’s glorious life and work: fulfilling her dreams while travelling far and wide beyond Spain’s borders, but always remaining in tune with the rhythm of the South. Intrinsically linked to cinema, she has starred in countless films from Saura's acclaimed flamenco trilogy to her role in Saben Aquell by David Trueba. Following Manolo Sanlúcar, El Legado (Imagenera Award 2019), filmmaker Juanma Suárez delves deeper into the portrayal of key figures in flamenco, with Cristina Hoyos an indelible presence who, to this day, continues to dream big.
