SPACE DOGS
O.V in Russian subtitled in English and Spanish
In 1957, the USSR took the lead in the space race thanks to Laika, a dog astronaut. But what does a stray dog have to do with such high human enterprise? Space Dogs gets rid of the anthropocentric gaze to go to the untold stories (and images) of the dogs that were exploited for this purpose (starting with Laika's demystified Space Oddity), and to the reflection of the ghost of Laika and her colleagues in the streets of contemporary Moscow (following a series of stray dogs with the camera at the height of their point of view). A raw tale that places the reduced and partial human gaze on the immense relativity of the universe.
