NO OTHER LAND
Named Best Documentary at the Berlinale (and Panorama Audience Award winner), the make-up of its creative team alone is moving: a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four activists, investigative journalists and filmmakers. Among them is Basel Adra, a young Palestinian who has spent over five years filming the systematic demolition of homes in his community in the far south of the West Bank, resulting in the devastating loss of an entire agricultural way of life: a brutal eviction – the largest ever carried out in the occupied territory. This is the first cinematic record of that war crime (as defined by the United Nations), representing a harrowing, meticulous yet thoughtful on-the-ground account. It stands as living proof that citizen alliances are possible in response to this unacceptable and never-ending history of oppressors and oppressed.
