MY FATHER'S SON
18-year-old Qiao’s father, a failed boxer, has just passed away. Haunted by memories of a neglectful and violent upbringing, she designs an AI model inspired by her father to compete in virtual boxing matches in an attempt to reconcile with her past. This imaginative and contemplative film blends science fiction with intimate drama in a narrative structured around three of life’s pivotal moments: the past, the present, and the future. This temporal lapse allows director Qiu Sheng to capture the changing face of China through the evolution of his home city, Hangzhou—once capital of the Song Dynasty 800 years ago, and now home to the country's largest e-commerce platform. A profound exploration of grief, memory, and the enduring bond between parent and child.
