A MAGNIFICENT LIFE

One of the greatest storytellers of all time becomes the hero of his own tale in a colourful biopic of the auteur Marcel Pagnol, written and directed by four-time Academy Award nominee Oscar Sylvain Chomet. This visually stunning animated feature explores the life of the acclaimed novelist, playwright and filmmaker who, at the height of his career, receives a commission for a literary serial from the editor-in-chief of a women’s magazine. As he begins to write, he is visited by a vision of his childhood self. Spurred on by the young Marcel, the author writes of his native Provence, first loves, the advent of “talkies”, the rise of the first major film studio, his close connection with actors, the craft of writing and the torment that comes with creativity. Seville warmly welcomes this celebration of 130 years since Pagnol’s birth to the big screen.
