LUIS GORDILLO. MANUAL DE INSTRUCCIONES
This vibrant documentary offers us exclusive access to an intimate portrait of the daily life and work of Luis Gordillo, one of abstract art’s greatest contemporary figures. Filmed over the course of three years, we follow Gordillo at work in his studio, organising exhibitions, attending public events and inaugurations (both his own and others'), and his most intimate moments of leisure. Alongside the lucid reflections of the now ninety-one-year-old painter—who continues to question the concepts of painting, family, colour, psychoanalysis, and creative drive—there is a chorus of voices from key figures in contemporary art and promising talents who draw inspiration from Gordillo's unique style. In this blend of visual essay and profound portrait, a wealth of priceless moments capture the affable personality of the master painter, who shies away from any semblance of grandeur to share his deepest concerns, and the lifeline he found in contemporary art, before going on to revolutionise it.
