LOS PRODUCTORES

A producer is someone who everyone adores and then forgets. This is the crude maxim of this documentary, whose title should not be confused with that of Mel Brooks’ classic about greedy crooks. Here, it is about understanding the work of those who, beyond becoming a headache for the director, put their money and hopes on the line so that a writer can transform their vision into memorable cinema. With input from independent producers, from Antonio Pérez to Enrique López Lavigne, and actors such as José Sacristán, Marisa Paredes or Antonio Resines, director and scriptwriter Manuel Iborra (Club Virginia Orchestra, Time of Happiness) explores the meaning of this art that compels so many to risk everything for their creations – especially the bold producers. As Samuel Goldwyn said, “No person who is enthusiastic about his work has anything to fear from life”.
