LOS BÁRBAROS
In the year of the crisis, four young people attempt to make a home by squatting in an unfinished building – a paradoxical limbo amid the real-estate bubble, where they willingly remain on the fringes of it all. This film captures the spirit of a generation resigned to apathy and frivolity, burdened by a lack of prospects despite being qualified for everything but the precariousness they face. The talents of Àlex Monner (The Invisible Line), Greta Fernández (A Thief’s Daughter), Eliza Rycembel (Corpus Christi) and Job Mansilla (a stand-up star) shine as they portray this group of colourful outcasts from the outskirts of Madrid, all searching for their place in the world, albeit a fictitious one. However foolish their evasive manoeuvre may seem; their strange coexistence forges a united front that refuses to accept the barbarities of the system – the real intruder.
