LA TIERRA DE AMIRA

Roberto Jiménez | Spain | 2025 | 85 min. | O.V. in Spanish

This social drama captures a chance encounter between two opposing worlds, divided by age, gender, culture, and religion. Justino (Manuel Morón) is a widower who lives in isolation on a vast, solitary estate where he tends to a small garden. Amira (Mina El Hammani) is one of many illegal Moroccan seasonal workers seeking a better future in Spain. One night, Justino accidentally hits Amira with his car. The injuries aren't serious, but she is no longer able to work, so he offers her his home until she recovers. In the words of director Roberto Jiménez (screenwriter behind 7 Vidas and Aída), his debut film “is a commitment to understanding, to getting to know each other, and to respecting each other”. Far from conflictive, this powerful debut proposes a point of convergence from which opposites can build and engage in calm, considerate dialogue.
