KILL IT AND LEAVE THIS TOWN
O.V. in Polish subtitled in Spanish and English
In a universe adjacent to those of Roland Topor or David Shrigley, Mariusz Wilczyński's unraveled drawings are set in a thousand original ways in this surreal, raw, comical and slightly disturbing exploration of his memories, neuroses and childhood traumas in Lodz during the decline of communism in the 1970s, connected to his disenchanted present. Driven by the melancholic psychedelia of Tadeusz Nalepa ( from the band Breakout, take notes), and with a brief voice cameo by the great Andrzej Wajda, a therapeutic exercise in lo-fi animation that took him 11 years to complete, presented at the Berlinale and awarded in Annecy.
