FARIO

Lucie Prost makes her debut feature film with a decadent tale of great symbolic potential. After a bright, party-going guy returns to his hometown, he is brought face to face with signs of impending catastrophe: the strange behaviour of the fario trout sends him on a hallucinatory journey in which he explores the repressed emotions that pollute his inner self. With mesmerising visuals and sound, intrigue flirts with fantasy mimicking the style of Apichatpong Weerasethakul or such Martian fables like The Animal Kingdom, evoking the porosity of reality and imaginary, the conscious and the unconscious, the strange materiality of things. Finnegan Oldfield (Nocturama) and Megan Northam (The Passengers of the Night) embody a fervent, lively youth, undeterred by the void of the present.
