DAYS OF THE BAGNOLD SUMMER

Simon Bird (Simon Cooper in The Inbetweeners) adapts Joff Winterhart's graphic novel in a debut feature with an original Belle & Sebastian soundtrack. Daniel (Earl Cave, son of Nick Cave), dirty hair, black attire and lethal apathy, in the awkward years of puberty and with death metal as religion, lives with his mother Sue, a shabby librarian with social anxiety addicted to tea and pastel colors. A summer of infinite boredom awaits both of them at home in a random suburb but, as John Hughes taught us, it is in the most seemingly anodyne days when the big changes happen.
