Eighteen-year-old Arsa lives on a remote island, transforming the waste washed up on shore into archaeological sculptures, until a group of young holidaymakers invade her secluded home. Shot on the volcanic island of Stromboli, ancient lava rocks bear witness to a powerful tale that resonates with Arsa's inner world, herself an untamed, almost mythological creature. Operating under the alias MASBEDO, the multimedia artist duo Nicolò Massazza and Iacopo Bedogni harness the ever-shifting dimension between the real and the remote, crafting a narrative centred around solitude as a creative force and raw nature as a backdrop against which introspection can bear fruit. The film's exquisite visual calligraphy is shaped by the very ecosystem it portrays, with an enchanting central performance by newcomer Gala Zohar Martinucci adding to the film’s other-worldly aura.
