'Intemperie', a portrait of the emotional landscape

In the Special Screenings section will be screened Benito Zambrano's latest film, 'Intemperie', starring Luis Tosar and adapted from the novel by Jesús Carrasco, one of the most celebrated Spanish titles of recent years. The Sevillian director commented during his presentation that "it is a pleasure to screen the film at the Seville Festival, because we play at home". Zambrano has defined this film as "a portrait of the emotional landscape of my life, because I come from afamily of laborers and I worked as one, so when I read the novel I saw that it had a lot to do with my past and my identity".

For the Spanish filmmaker, the film "is a journey from darkness to light, which talks about how to keep being good people while living with the wounds that we all accumulate. It seems that at the present time we are returning to the age of confrontation rather than dialogue." For his part, Luis Tosar has alluded to the difficulties during filming: "The environment may have been somewhat hostile because of its characteristics, but it has been wonderful to be able to tell the novel in a plausible way, where the landscape becomes one more character".

The writer of the novel, Jesús Carrasco, also present at the meeting, has highlighted that he had the opportunity to visit the filming and see a previous editing, in which "I was already impressed by the gaze of Benito, an exquisite director and a very high expressiveness". On the story on which the film is based, Carrasco has said that 'Intemperie' "is not about evil, but about resistance and being able to withstand pressure in the face of adversity or the temptations of power. A society will always be healthy as long as there are people who, with their weaknesses, endure dignity."
