Tribute to Pere Portabella

VAMPIR-CUADECUC

Pere Portabella | Spain | 1971 | 75 min.
O.V in English subtitled in Spanish

One of Portabella's best-known works as a director, and one of the strangest, most hypnotic and powerful works for the annals of radical cinema. In a dramatic black and white contrast that takes us back to the expressionist terror of Nosferatu, Portabella makes his own vampire film on the set of another vampire film: Jesús Franco's Count Dracula, starring Christopher Lee. The result transcends the making of (just an excuse) to draw a phantasmagoria that extracts the essence of the vampire myth, propelled by the soundtrack of Carles Santos.
