Eccentric Melodies

Theo Angelopoulos | Greece | 1975 | 230 min.
O.V. Greek subtitled in Spanish
El viaje de los comediantes

In his third feature Angelopoulos embarked on a colossal journey through the history of Greece between 1939 and 1952 (covering the years of the Nazi occupation), following a group of itinerant actors who go from village to village always performing the same play. An epic odyssey of the resounding anti-fascist discourse that won the Critics' Prize at Cannes, and the first international success of Angelopoulos, where he shows his expertise in sequential shots with an inexhaustible poetic touch.
