An autobiographical film focusing on the harsh story from when Hogg was a film student in the 1980s. Julie (Honor Swinton Byrne) meets Anthony (Tom Burke), a cultured, refined and bitter dandy with whom she ends up having a relationship. Soon we notice that Anthony hides something, and both enter into a spiral in which Julie will end up even stealing from her mother (Tilda Swinton, her mother in real life) to bend to his wishes. Both distant and close, a bit like remote memories, Souvenir is also a nostalgic look at 80's England through its objects, houses, clothes and colors, Featuring the music of The Fall, Robert Wyatt, Joe Jackson, The Specials, Gary Numan and Bauhaus. Jury Prize at Sundance.
