BEATS

Brian Welsh | United Kingdom | 2019 | 96 min
O.V in English and Scottish subtitled in Spanish and English

The teenage euphoria, somewhere between an overwhelming energy and the "no future" of punk, is the fuel for this film.  As if it were a mix between Rumble Fish with the characters of Superbad and the nihilistic shamelessness of Trainspotting, Beats places us in the Scotland of 1994, in full explosion of the raves: almost a religion, the last great British youth movement. The fate of Johno and Spanner, friends since childhood, is about to separate. But before that, they will live a last adventure in the sphere of freedom and anarchy of those great spontaneous parties, communions in which social classes dissolve.
