Gerardo Sánchez Fernández is a prominent television professional, currently serving as the director of the iconic RTVE program Días de Cine, which airs on La 2. His career, strongly tied to TVE, began in 1982 as a video mixer during the FIFA World Cup. He then went on to work with several audiovisual production companies, including Eclipse Films and Tesauro Televisión. Upon returning to TVE, he focused on producing reports for Canal 24 Horas, where he solidified his role as senior editor for the reports section, particularly producing a series on the history of rock music.

Between 2006 and 2007, Sánchez served as editor for Zoom Estrenos and gradually took on greater responsibilities at Días de Cine, a program he began directing in 2009. Under his leadership, the program has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Premios Zapping. Additionally, Sánchez has built a distinguished career in documentary filmmaking, standing out with projects such as the Imprescindibles documentary on Elías Querejeta.

Sánchez has also been honored with the Medal of the Circle of Cinematographic Writers and has contributed to the organization and direction of major award ceremonies, including the Premios Días de Cine, the Premios Forqué, and the Premios Platino. His passion for cinema has led him to serve as a juror at film festivals and collaborate on books about iconic figures of classic cinema. His tireless career reflects a deep commitment and significant influence in the Spanish audiovisual landscape.
