As part of the Seville European Film Festival, Swiss-Polish director Emilie Girardin will conduct a masterclass focusing on her use of collective creation tools and autofiction in film production. This session invites all participants to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by hybrid forms in cinema.
Through the presentation of her films The Last to Leave Are the Cranes and One Dances, The Other Doesn’t, Girardin will demonstrate how to utilize improvisation and autofiction to craft innovative dialogues and narratives with performers. She will encourage participants to contribute their perspectives and experiences from the early stages of script development.
This workshop is open to film students, professionals, enthusiasts, and anyone interested in experimentation and innovation in film production.
Emilie Girardin (1991) studied directing and dramaturgy at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona from 2012 to 2015. In 2018, she graduated in theatre directing from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg (HfMT). Since then, she has been active as a theatre director, filmmaker, and freelance producer for both theatre and film productions in Hamburg, Barcelona, and Katowice. Additionally, she serves as a cultural manager in the intercultural arena between Poland and Germany, curating film cycles and teaching film at the SAE Institute in Germany.
This event is presented in collaboration with Universidad Loyola Andalucía and the Real Academia Sevillana de las Buenas Letras.
