IN-I MOTION

Juliette Binoche, receiving this year’s Honorary Giraldillo for her outstanding career, also presents her directorial debut with this compelling documentary centred on the creative experiment she embarked on with British choreographer Akram Khan. The audience is granted behind-the-scenes access to witness the development, rehearsal, and performance of a groundbreaking collaboration between an actress who cannot dance and a dancer who cannot act. Drawing from dozens of hours of unseen footage, Binoche captures the miracle of dialogue, improvisation, and the mutual adaptation of their respective talents. Infused with blood, sweat, and tears (of joy)—not to mention breathwork, muscle fatigue, doubts, and vertigo—In-I In Motion is passionate and captivating in the plasticity of its images, serving as a bold testimony to the fragile, euphoric nakedness of the act of theatre.
