El manuscrito encontrado en Zaragoza

Luis Buñuel, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia can’t all be wrong. Each of these legendary greats has publicly expressed their admiration for this gem of Polish cinema, with David Lynch describing it as "simultaneously horrific, erotic and funny". Based on the novel by historian and writer Jan Potocki, The Saragossa Manuscript lures audiences into a captivating labyrinth of fables, inhabited by alchemists, astrologers, Qabalists, demons, bandits, gypsies, and hermits. Fantasy and reality intertwine—where Time itself is just another character—in the enigmatic world of the Sierra Morena. The film unfolds against a backdrop of Spanish Gothic, Baroque, Qabalistic, and Moorish traditions, weaving a tale that is as visually rich as it is narratively complex. At the centre of the film is Zbigniew Cybulski, a legendary name in Polish cinema (best known for Ashes and Diamonds), whose tragic death in 1967 has made him Poland's answer to James Dean.
