Sevilla, 23 de octubre 2020.- Seville, October 23rd, 2020 - The 17th SEFF presents the animated documentary film El viaje más largo, directed by Manuel H. Martín, a film project that combines animated scenes with found footage, real-action shots, and interviews to document the first round-the-world trip made by the Magellan-Elcano expedition between 1519 and 1522.

From the present, the documentary looks for the keys to the past and future and offers a dialogue between historians and scientists to tell us an exciting story: that of the expedition to find new trade routes which, 500 years ago, ended up becoming the first round-the-world trip.

"When I began to document that journey, which took almost four years to complete, I realized that it was a complex story, with a lot of twists and turns. In that story, there were, among other details, power struggles (the world was divided between two powers: Spain and Portugal), intrigue (everyone wanted to discover the best sea route), and remarkable real characters full of nuances. The adventure, which ended Magellan's life and led Elcano to complete the first round-the-world trip, was a journey full of uncertainty, a journey into the unknown," explains the film's director, Manuel H. Martin.
