The Seville Festival has framed the reading of the EFA 32nd edition nominations this Saturday, which will be given in Berlin on December 7th. The announcement has highlighted ‘Pain and glory, by Pedro Almodóvar in as well as ‘Buñuel en el laberinto de las tortugas’ which will be screened during the festival at the Animation category. The film ‘The traitor', by Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio, which will premiere this week, has been nominated for four of the Awards.
The nominations for Best European Film were for AN OFFICER AND A SPY, by Roman Polansky; LES MISÈRABLES, by Ladj Ly; PAIN AND GLORY, by Pedro Almodóvar; SYSTEM CRASHER, by Nora Fingscheidt; THE FAVOURITE, by Yorgos Lanthimos; and THE TRAITOR, by Marco Bellocchio. For Best European Director, nominees are Pedro Almodóvar for PAIN AND GLORY; Marco Bellocchio, for THE TRAITOR; Yorgos Lanthimos, for THE FAVOURITE; Roman Polanski, for AN OFFICER AND A SPY; and Céline Sciamma, for PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE. Other nominations include Best Script for Pedro Almódovar, as well as Best Actor for Antonio Banderas, both for PAIN AND GLORY. The full list can be found at the end of the present press release.
On its 16th editions, which will be held until November 16th, The Seville Festival will screen some of the titles that has been pre-selected by the European Film Academy, holders of an undisputable quality. Titles from the Official Section, such as ‘The traitor’, by Marco Bellocchio, along with ‘About endlessness’, by Roy Andersson, ‘God exists, her name is Petrunija’, by Teona Strugar Mitevska; and ‘Little Joe’, by Jessica Hausner. Besides, at the EFA Selection we will be able to enjoy: 'A tale of three sisters', by Emin Alper; 'And then we danced', by Levan Akin; 'Bad poems', by Gábor Reisz; 'Dirty God', by Sacha Polak; 'Young Ahmed', by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne; 'I do not care if we go down in History as barbarians', by Radu Jude; 'Mr. Jones', by Agnieszka Holland; 'Oleg', de Juris Kursietis; 'Perros de presa', de Adrian Panek; 'Queen of hearts’, by May el-Toukhy, whose main character Trine Dyrholm has been nominated for Best Actress. 'Sons of Denmark',bye Ulaa Salim; 'Stitches', by Miroslav Terzić; and 'Twin flower', by Laura Luchetti.
