THE MISTERY OF DINESEN AND ROSENVINGE

The world premiere of Karen, by María Pérez Sanz (Cáceres, 1984), will introduce Christina Rosenvinge (Madrid, 1964) giving life to the famous writer who signed herself as Isak Dinesen and who remained in the collective imagination thanks to Out of Africa. In spite of this, the story told here is another one: a portrait of the "domestic disaster without idealizations, without epic moments or giraffes" experienced by Blixen during her last years in Kenya and of her relationship with a Somali servant. "I will not let go until you bless me", stated the author about the difficulty of leaving that continent, a mantra appropriated by Pérez Sanz during the filming of this story of settlers in her native Extremadura. The psychology of the characters was not as important to her as their mystery, from Dinesen as from Rosenvinge. The acclaimed composer and performer has highlighted "the universal teaching of the myth of Karen: how from a failure, from the rupture of a dream, you find your true meaning".
