Life is not like the cinema: events don’t follow a sequence of set-up- conflict- resolution. What is here, rather, is the idea of cinema as (a way of) life. As filmed by a Mekas from the era of long distance relationships sponsored by Skype and low cost airlines, of post-Erasmus hangovers and the lack of certainties and beliefs, the (beautiful) diary recording on super 8 by Didio Pestana covers journeys between Berlin and Lisbon, relationships that shine and then fade away, job upheavals, moving house, family vicissitudes, states of mind as elusive and fleeting as the light that caresses the screen.

Dídio Pestana
He was born in Lisbon in 1978. He graduated first in Language and Portuguese Culture from the University of Lisbon, and then did a master in Sound at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin (UDK). He moved to Berlin in 2006, where he worked as a musician, both in groups and on soundtracks for films, and also as sound engineer on films by directors such as Gonçalo Tocha and Filipa Cesar. SOBRE TUDO SOBRE NADA is his first film, and it was part of the Signs of Life Section at Locarno.
