La France

How can we make a film about the First World War and make it feel like fresh air in the 21st century? The answer lies in the radical forms of La France, which explores the absurdity of the conflict without trivialising it by mixing comedy and music. Camille (the brilliant Sylvie Testud) receives a breaking up letter from her husband, who is in the war front. So, she decides to leave in his search, but she would have to do it dressed as a man, because women are not allowed to travel on the battlefield. Along the way she joins a group of soldiers who interpret (in more than one sense) the conflict in their own way. Awarded with the Prix Jean Vigo.
