Special Screening Presente y Futuro

THE INNOCENCE

Lucia Alemany | Spain | 2019 | 92 min.
O.V in Catalan and Spanish subtitled in English and Spanish

Small town, big hell. Lis knows this well, and at the age of fifteen she faces a summer in which, together with her friends, she learns things about her body and her own identity, dreaming of someday becoming a circus artist. That summer also begins a relationship that hides from her parents (Laia Marull and Sergi López) and neighbors: a hostile territory, full of sexism and gossip. But autumn arrives and Lis, played with great intensity by debutante actress, Carmen Arrufat, discovers that she is pregnant. A refreshing and luminous (beyond the sorrows it narrates) first feature premiered in the New Directors section of the San Sebastian festival.
