JULIETTE BINOCHE TO RECEIVE THE GIRALDILLO OF HONOR IN SEVILLE

The Seville European Film Festival, which will celebrate its 22nd edition from 7 to 15 November, will award its highest honour to one of the most admired actresses in contemporary cinema, Juliette Binoche, who will receive the Giraldillo de Honor for her entire career and will present her directorial debut in Seville.

With a career spanning more than four decades and over 70 titles, Juliette Binoche is one of the most admired and versatile faces of European cinema today. President of the European Film Academy, winner of an Academy Award, several César Awards, the Volpi Cup in Venice, the Silver Bear in Berlin, and the Spanish Academy’s International Goya Award, the French actress has worked with essential directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Michael Haneke, Abbas Kiarostami, Claire Denis, and Olivier Assayas, consolidating an international prestige that places her among the great performers of our time.

The Seville European Film Festival will celebrate this career by awarding her the Giraldillo of Honor, which Binoche will collect in person in the Andalusian capital. Audiences in Seville will also have the opportunity to discover her new facet as a filmmaker: Binoche will present 'In-I in Motion', her directorial debut, a documentary born from her collaboration with choreographer Akram Khan, now arriving in Seville for one of its first international presentations.

“The Seville European Film Festival not only opens windows onto our talent; it connects us to Europe, with a shared vision that is both intimate and universal. And within this cultural bridge, actress Juliette Binoche will receive the festival’s tribute,” said Angie Moreno.

‘Awarding the Giraldillo de Honor to Juliette Binoche is a recognition of one of the most extraordinary actresses in the history of cinema, not only in Europe. It is also a great honour for the Seville Film Festival to welcome her and accompany her in two other roles, as the new president of the European Film Academy and also as a director,’ said Manuel Cristóbal, director of the Festival.
