Starting in 2005, a group of teachers from IES Lope de Vega in Fuente Obejuna began training and working with various audiovisual tools. Little by little, they began to integrate audiovisual literacy into their specific subjects and to work in an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental manner at the school.
What initially began as a coexistence project ended up becoming a working methodology that, over time, would become the hallmark of the IES Lope de Vega, Fuente Obejuna secondary school.
The students' training continued with teacher training, participation in educational courses and lectures, participation in educational film festivals, and finally the creation of their own festival: "FOCO" (FOCUS), which is the icing on this beautiful cake.
In this session, Miguel Sánchez and Javier Goytre, teachers of Technology and Geography and History respectively and founders of the project, will explain how the project came about and evolved until its tenth edition in 2025, the challenges and limitations they face, and will highlight the importance of audiovisual education in the classroom.
The ENFOCANDO educational project has gained widespread recognition both within Spain and abroad in the form of awards for short films made by students at IES Lope de Vega, teacher training, participation in conferences and lectures at various Spanish universities, and recognition from various institutions (ASECAN, ATRESMEDIA, INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL, PLASENCIAENCORTO...).
