The audience crisis, the changes of paradigm in audiovisuals, circulation strategies, the possibilities for coproduction, gender equality… are some of the subjects that will be dealt with by international representatives of the industry at the Seville Festival. Consolidated as the main European meeting point for filmmakers, producers, distributors and exhibitors, during IndustriaSEFF 2018 there will be dozens of activities within the framework of a necessary debate that is vital for the future of cinema in Europe.

IndustriaSEFF will continue to follow its slogan Make them circulate!, above all boosting the circulation of those films present in the festival which do not have distribution in Spain, something for which the Festival has played and continues to play a very important role. Seville is host to the 7th Annual Conference of Europe International, the European network of international sales agents with 46 members in 15 countries, whose main objective is to improve the international distribution and circulation of European films inside and outside Europe. The conference will be attended by outstanding international companies from the sector. Within IndustriaSEFF there is a special space for the discussion started by Europe International which is seeking to create closer working relationship between the two main actors in the industry, the sales agents and the festivals, key figures for a film’s career. Also two special presentations will be organised for the members of Europe International present in Seville: a meeting with Spanish producers and directors to present the latest crop of Spanish cinema and also an exclusive session with the five participants in La Incubadora from ECAM’s The Screen, which is closing its first successful edition in Seville.

An analysis of the circulation of films beyond the standard commercial chain is covered in IndustriaSEFF with the 2nd conference on initiatives in education regarding image with the collaboration of programmes such as AulaDCine from the Andalusian Regional Government, Cinema en Curs or Aula de Cine de Laboral Cinemateca from the Principality of Asturias or with the workshop on distribution of short films which will set out the steps to follow to move the first works by the filmmakers of the future.

The special, magical ritual of experiencing a film in a cinema, and of which SEFF is a maximum exponent with the multiple screenings for all kinds of audiences ofered by the festival, is also the object of analysis in IndustriaSEFF. Europa Cinemas, the largest network of cinemas programming European films, with more than 2,800 cinemas in 44 countries, comes back to Seville for a new edition of its Innovation Lab which, under the title How to make the cinema experience more attractive?, will create a space for debate with the aim of attracting and increasing audiences, creating demand, diversifying the programming of European cinema, building relations, making use of resources, carrying out joint actions at a continental level, adapting to the changes in models of entertainment, developing funding and communication strategies, and exchanging experiences with diverse professionals in the sector from around the world.

Attending to the needs of the sector, in its 2018 edition IndustriaSEFF extends its areas of action, including talks and conferences directly linked to the development and production of films. Organised in collaboration with AGICI - Associazione Generale Industrie Cine-Audiovisive Indipendenti, Cineuropa, Ibermedia and Eurimages the seminar Sistema Italia analyses the possibilities of coproduction with Italy and also the diferent international subsidy programmes available to producers from both countries.

The Fundación Audiovisual de Andalucía with its XVI Conference on animation and videogames, a forum for debate on the latest trends in the sector which has been visited by over 1,000 professionals since its creation, and the Asociación Andaluza de Mujeres en los Medios Audiovisuales, which is organising the course “The cession of rights” in collaboration with SGAE and also the master class by Celia Rico, where the Seville filmmaker will talk about her latest film Viaje al cuarto de una madre, will all be back again in a new edition of IndustriaSEFF full of possibilities for learning, recycling, sharing and creating new alliances with other European professionals.

Our infinite thanks to Acción Cultural Española, Extenda, the Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales and Creative Europe MEDA Desk Andalucía for their commitment and involvement so that IndustriaSEFF 2018 is possible.

FEStiVAL SCoPE

SEFF has renewed its agreement with Festival Scope Pro, the online viewing platform, an international reference among film industry professionals, with the aim of helping the promotion of the films selected for the Festival, with a special focus on the Spanish and Andalusian productions.

Festival Scope Pro has become an indispensable tool for festival programmers, distributors, producers and critics who use it to select films, review them, buy them for distribution or discover new talents, and through which they can contact rights holders and directors. It is a market platform that makes it possible to multiply the films’ impact among international professionals, thus improving the possibilities of obtaining international circulation.

Thanks to the support of Extenda, the films that agree to participate can remain on Festival Scope Pro for a year, ofering the rights holders the possibility of receiving detailed reports about the viewings of their films or inviting professionals who want to view them.
