TAKE ME SOMEWHERE NICE

Ena Sendijarević | Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina | 2019 | 91 min
O.V in Dutch and Bosnian subtitled in English and Spanish

Taken by the spirit of Stranger than Paradise from Jarmusch, dyed with bubblegum colors and summer laxity, here is a road movie that, rather than taking us “somewhere nice”, leads us through a rocky and unpredictable path. Alma, an impassive teenager, travels from her home in Holland to the land of her father, Bosnia. But no one awaits for her on the other side. With her apathetic cousin Emir and her (attractive) friend Denis behind, she takes off to the road, perplexity becomes reckless courage. Winner of the jury prize in Rotterdam.
