NEITHER REMEMBERING NOR FORGETTING

Every memory is a fiction: we select snippets of events, time seasons them and we take advantage of this to project all our obsessions and longings onto them. As animation is one of the media that best lends itself to visually recreate the images created by the mind, memory is one of its main materials. In this journey we will examine the different ways in which animation plays with the idea of memory: from film-exorcisms that confront recollection in a therapeutic way, considerations of historical remembrance and what happens when we contrast those images with the state of the world today, to the magic of past events fabricated through the stories of people who live surrounded by reminiscences or who seek to fabricate them in the face of their absence.
