MOTHER AND SON
V.O. in French subtitled in Spanish and English

Rose arrives in France from the Ivory Coast with two of her sons, Jean and Ernest, and a whole life ahead of her. In her second feature film, Léonor Serraille constructs a close, detailed and non-paternalistic chronicle of the life of an immigrant family in contemporary Europe. A chronicle of the Afro-European experience from the complementary perspectives of the three main characters, a lively yet unstable mother, and the two sons seeking their place in a country that does not make things easy for them. Marion Burger took the Best Young Film Technician Award at Cannes for the production design that transports viewers through three decades of domestic life in France.
