One of the leading figures in new Spanish cinema, Elena López Riera dazzled with Pueblo and Los que desean (winner of the Golden Leopard at Locarno). Her debut feature, El agua, was one of the great revelations of the last Cannes Film Festival, recently winning the Violette d'or for Best Film at the prestigious Toulouse Festival.
Charlotte Wells competes in the New Waves at the SEFF with Aftersun (2022), one of the debuts of the season. Jury Prize at the Cannes Critics' Week, Grand Prix at the Deauville Festival and finalist at the European Film Awards. Wells' portrait of a paternal-filial relationship is a poignant tale of the loss of innocence.
