THE LAST FAMILY

JAN P. MATUSZYŃSKI

Jan P. Matuszyński | Poland | 2017 | 123 min. O.V. Polish with English and Spanish subtitles

The life between the ‘80s and the 2000s of the Polish surrealist painter Zdzisław Beksiński, known for his disturbing post-apocalyptic Giger-style works, his sense of humour and his mania for photographing and recording everything. And his relationship with his son Tomek, translator of Monty Python and A DJ, always on the verge of exploding. A family portrait, eccentric like its protagonists –under the care of Zosia, the mother, in the grey block of communist apartments-, where the comical is mingled with the dreadful final destiny of Beksiński, a fascinating personality that won Andrzej Seweryn the Best Actor Award at Locarno.
